My mother was diagnosed with an anal melanoma in November 2010 and was gone by October 2011. Thinking it was only a hemorrhoid she waited over a month for an appointment with a colorectal surgeon. By the time she got an appointment with an oncologist, it had spread to her lymph nodes. She was only given three months, but survived for almost eleven. She went through chemo and radiation, but neither helped. I was shocked at how fast the disease spread towards the end. The last two weeks were almost unbearable to watch. She signed herself up for hospice care early on and they were truly angels of mercy when things took a turn for the worst.
Marie was a wonderful mother and friend and will be forever missed and loved until we meet again.
