To Thy Own Self Be True & Move Fast When You "Know" You Have To!!

Hi Sharon,

You probably already know this but if you check the archives or profiles, you might try checking with MDX, MDX-010 and MDX-101 as well as with ipilimumab. Also CTLA-4 would be another way to check. I'm sure you'll get responses but there have been MPIP participants for as long as I've been here that have done some of the earlier trials and I think 4 and 5 years ago MDX was often the trial name used. I think that's because initially Mederex was developing it with Bristol Meyer Squibb before they were bought out by BMS or that's my recollection of the chain of events.

Best of Luck, Carver

Sharon, I don't know anything to help you...but did you mean BRAF or did you write BARF on purpose?  Either way thanks for the laugh!  Most of the available treatments for melasuckanoma involve a lot of BARFing...

Just keep going!

yep meant BRAF, they don't have spell check on this new site so Im probably gonna have typos from now on and your right BARF works too...hehe

Sharon,

All I can offer is my experience through the Angeles Clinic (John Wayne Cancer Clinic) over the last few months.  The lead investigators at Angeles (Dr. O'Day & Dr. Hamid) recently presented a paper to the American Society of Clinical Oncologists convention on the successes they have documented in Ipi trials.  I will sure be leaning that way if I need to change meds.

Hi,  I was told to do Ipi first and then BARF....I mean BRAF, ha ha.  Braf is usually used last since the duration is usually 6-9 months.  I had a partial reaction to Ipi so now I am doing it again.  The Angeles Clinic is great.

Every day is a miracle.

Hi Sharon,

I just had my 16th week ct scan after ipi and my lung mets have shrunk by 50% - some have also remained stable or disappeared.  I think the less tumour burden, this drug seems to work quite well.  If I was BRAF positive, I'd save it till later as I know it works fast - unlike ipi.

If you've got 3 months to wait to see if ipi works - then I'm a firm believer in it.  Don't get too caught up in the statistic of this drug because all these newer drugs will change as more and more people try them.

We also have Anti PD-1, so we have more options to try which gives us more hope.

All the best to you.

Lisa
