Well, I'm down in California today, and had my 4th injection of my Vaccine. Everything is going really smoothly. I took aleve at the same time I got my shot today and so far it's doing a pretty good job of stopping that BIG headache I usually get. The headache is coming on a little (it's on track timewise) but lacks the strength it has had on previous days.

So..only 4 more shots to go!

I'll be getting scans again toward the end of September, and hopefully I remain NED

Sitting in John Wayne Airport right now, headed to las vegas to join bob for a few days of fun before he starts his annual IRS course. I'll bet if I add it all up at the end of the year, it will turn out that I spent more time on the road than at home this year!

Hope everyone is having a great summer.

Wow, Dian, you're half way through the vaccine trial!  That's great.  And, of course, we expect nothing other than NED scan results at the end of September.

You have been on the road a lot....good for you.  How are the kitties?

Say "hello" to Cigar Bob and continue living each day to the fullest.

(Hope you avoid the major headache)

Stay Strong

Hey Kathie! The kitties are all grown up, venturing outside now since spring (and have almost stopped using their indoor litter box YAY!) They are confused by are travel, but Jess takes care of them every day. Houdini still is taking steroids every day but seems to be thriving. HE looks ANNOYED when we return, like he thinks that house is his an we are intruders. But he accepts some petting and purrs. The other little darling, Bailey is a bundle of love and will not let you sit down without coming and demanding your full attention.

Bob's doing great. We are in vegas visiting pop, who's also doing great and has bought a new RV since his last one burned to the ground..says he's driving up to Spokane to see my band play labor day weekend. Bob has IRS classes here at the Mandalay Bay starting monday, but last night he went out and won some dough playing poker, so it's a little pre-conference fun for us.

My side effects are a little worse this time, with my headache lingering and those 'flu symptoms' they talk about hammering me a little. But I'm in a pretty cool suite at the Venetian going through it all in kooshy comfort. Next week we move to the Paris!

Life is Good!

Dian, I must say, I am a bit jealous of all of the traveling you have been doing this summer.  Glad to hear things are going well.  As for the headaches, lay off of the liquor and late night partying before you get the vaccines next time.

Amazing how you can fly in and out and touch down long enough to get another injection!!  Glad it's going so smoothly!  Next time you talk to someone connected with your trial can you ask them if they know of anything like that on the East coast?   Or just send me their phone number and I'll make a call.

Enjoy Vegas!!  Win a few for me.

Linda,

I was sorry to hear about your latest news. Here's the thing, MACVAC is ONLY administered out of HOAG..but....

When I was looking for this trial, I asked all my docs speciifically if there was a treatment out there that would use my own tumor to build a targeted treatment for me. I didnt' just..think it up. I barely smarter than your average idiot.

I READ about it here! I mean I read, in a general way, much earlier, about such treatment being done at NCI. I don't remember the details or the trial name or anything (thank you interferon for helping me on the road to crappy memory) But I do remember how it rang a bell in me. Seems to me it was Dr Rosenberg back then, harvesting Tumor cells and harvesting white blood cells and it all sounded so promising to me. It was somewhat different than what I have done..it didn't use leukine, which a lot of folks in the field have decided is not effective. Maybe it was using IL 2

I wish I could remember more about it. Perhaps if you start a new thread about it, someone else out there will have some details or help for you.

good luck girl.
