Off-Topic Forum

The MPIP Off-Topic Forum is a community bulletin board that provides the melanoma community with a safe space to share experiences and to give and find support from others who can relate to having or caring for someone with a melanoma diagnosis. Please note: if you have an urgent question about melanoma to ask the community, visit the main MPIP Forum.

MPIP is the oldest and largest community of people affected by melanoma hosted through the Melanoma Research Foundation. It is designed to provide support and information to caregivers, patients, family and friends. Once you have been touched by melanoma—either as a patient or as a family member or friend of a patient—you become part of a community. It is not a community anyone joins willingly. But if you must be part of this group, you will find no better place to find the tools you need in your journey with this cancer, and the friends who can make that journey more bearable.

The information on the bulletin board is open and accessible to everyone. To add a new topic or to post a reply, you must be a registered user. Please note that you will be able to post both topics and replies anonymously even though you are logged in. All posts must abide by MRF posting policies.

MRI# 36 shows a midline shift, I am being admitted overnight.  10mg Decadron IV,  2years NED and now this.  Saw the MRI before any doctor came to talk to me.  Back to Being Elmer Fudd.  Back to survival mode.  Cancel the trip to Europe (Merry always did want to see Paris) Now all of the regular work I have has to be canceled again.    Will likely work through the weekend, pretty sure the Neurosurgeon regularly cuts on Tuesdays.  I feel no emotion at all.

Been really busy boating, eating lobster and avoiding politics.  Concerned about what I see as a deepening economic state of stagnation. Following the disasterous and extremely costly wars, I fully expected a period of stagnation and inflation like that which followed the Vietnam war.  Looks different this time. The trillions of dollars thrown away in Iraq and Afganistan should have resulted in an inflationary spiral  as the true costs (much of which is buried in secret budgets) eventually had to be paid with borrowed money. But the effects of the GLOBAL recession are exacerbating and prolonging our domestic problems. Real prices are falling across the board as businesses strugle to increase their sales. Normally this would be considered a healthy "adjustment" to a previously over heated economy. But too much deflation can have negative effects that can further deepen an already stagnate economy. The general public is not confident enough to spend even with falling prices. Safe investment (CDs and Treasuries) are paying little. Business keeps lowering prices but the consumer is afraid to spend or can't afford to spend as jobs are lost and even employed workers feel fear of being laid off. If the economy continues to deflate, small businesses will feel the impact first, but larger industries will eventually too. I am seeing major reductions in existing home prices wherever I go. Cash really talks now (I bought a large boat at a very low price). Its definitely a buyers market if you have the cash. But until the average person regains confidence, jobs and job security, the downward spiral of deflation could be a major risk to the economy. Many investment strategies involving stocks and real estate are based on protection against inflation. My personal opinion is delation is the more important risk at least until the economy stabalizes and improves.

Happy Friday everyone!

Can you believe it, I'm getting married tomorrow!!!!!! How the heck did THAT happen????

Actually, it's worked out extremely well, but we didn't know that until the last minute.

Tomorrow morning we're meeting my family at the local Farmer's Market for breakfast  - an Amish family that sells homemade breads, desserts, and milk products has set up a tent with picnic tables and griddle tops.  We ate there before - the menu changes weekly, but last time I got a huge pancake, link sausage (the size of keilbasa) and fresh milk for $3.50.  Then we're stopping by another booth and picking up some sunflowers to decorate the boat, and I ordered a couple of ribeyes from a local farmer and we'll pick those up at the same time.

Burly Man's best friend since childhood will be marrying us, and his wife will be the witness.  The plan is to go out on the boat (we are so lucky weather-wise; it's been in the high 90s for weeks, but a cold front moved in and we are being blessed with 80 degree temps during the day, and 50s at night) and find a little cove.  I'm wearing a white sundress and he's wearing a white shirt and shorts.   The preacher will marry us, his wife will take pictures, then we'll have champagne and music and the fun will begin!!!

It's hard to believe... neither of us ever thought we'd be doing this, but we are both very happy.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unlike Bill, I am a MAN who still works and commands topshelf.  Is any one else on the list to wipe his drool?

Hall of Famer she is.

Gallagher,

Would you just start drinking copious amounts of Jameson and resolve this issue. Sorry to be blunt but obviously the issue is your skull is too thick. My diagnosis comes as a result of your genes. Take Big Mick for example, he has Harlem bullets lodged in his skull that he doesn’t even know about and there is no need to even talk about the Wynne side of things.  To that end, my diagnosis/solution (couldn’t think of a medical term ending in “is” for solution)/prognosis is as per below

Patient is presented with fatty head

Double drip is connected with Jameson 15 year old reserve (veins or arteries, matters not as long as it is going in)

Patient may become incoherent or try and fight the world.

Singing rebel songs and attempting to throw stones into the sea towards Britain is a common side effect

Patient loses intelligence but that is OK as he is now a poet (and is invincible so beware when arguing)

Fatty head becomes sore head

Drips are removed.

Head is sore but brain has reduced in size.

Irish Breakfast is provided to assist with anaesthetic effects.

Patient may now fly to Europe for Friday night top ups.

Voila!!!

Wow!!! If Earl slides right up the coast a very large percentage of the nations population coud be heavily effected.  A cat 3 or 4 centered right along the coast would cause huge problems for a lot of big cities including DC.  And the tail og the dog (coastal Maine) could be wagged pretty hard.

Keep the faith and remember, that we all care about you and I just feel you will come out of this..... (even if you lose your hair yet again)  another scalp scar just adds to the mystique of being you.
