I was a 17 year old high school student getting ready to start my senior year. I was a typical high school girl - tanning beds and beach vacations. I had thought I had a wart on my leg, which I went to have taken off, but when they called to tell me I needed to come back, I knew something was wrong. I mean, I was 17! What was I supposed to do with hearing that I had melanoma?! I had my whole life ahead of me. I was in shock but some how kept calm. Luckily we found it early and I just had to have one surgery. It was well worth giving up the normal teenage girl "routine" of being nice and tan. I am now 21 years old, in college, and half way through my first pregnancy and ready to meet my heathly baby boy! To anyone going through this, just keep your head up and think positive and be ready for all the things you will accomplish!
