Clinical Trials
You and your doctor may have discussed participating in a clinical trial. These are a number of reasons why this suggestion could have been made, including:
- Access to investigational treatments before they become widely available
- Opportunity to play a role in the discovery of treatments, cures, and preventions for certain diseases or medical conditions
- Ability to play a more active role in your own healthcare
- Access to free physical examinations and diagnostic tests related to the study
Melanoma clinical trials are not just for individuals with advanced stage disease. Clinical trials evaluate new medical approaches and show how they work in people with early stage or advanced cancers. The trial’s objective is to answer scientific questions and to screen, diagnose, or treat melanoma.
