Melanoma Educational Materials

Want to educate your school, classroom or workplace?  What about your doctor's office, a special event or a fundraiser?

The MRF has a robust education program and offers FREE resources that can be used in your education, fundraising and awareness efforts. Below are the PDF's of these materials so you can see what we have to offer at this time.   • MRF Bookmark - General education and awareness handout appropriate for most ages. Great to hand out at schools, health fairs, 5K races, etc.
  • "Who is the Most Likely to Spot YOUR Melanoma?" (AKA the 'mirror' piece) - General education and awareness piece appropriate for for most ages. Great to hand out at schools, health fairs, 5K races, etc.
  • It's A Fact Sheet  (*You may print this on your own or request copies) - General education and awareness handout appropraite for most ages. Great to hand out at schools, health fairs, 5K races, etc.
  • Just Diagnosed...Now What? - Educational piece for newly diagnosed patients. Perfect for dermatology and oncology offices who diagnose melanoma.
  • MaryAnn PSA  (*Please print these on your own) - This PSA was used in New York's Times Square as an awareness campaign.  It can be printed in several different sizes. Great for schools and health fairs.
  • Pathways to a Cure Brochure - Informational brochure on the mission of the MRF: Research, Education, and Advocacy. Great for health fairs, 5K races, melanoma fundraisers, etc.
  • 5 Facts About Tanning and Sun Safety Poster - 2' x 3' poster on sun safety and melanoma prevention. Great, large poster to hang up in schools, school nurse's offices, classrooms, health fairs booths, informational tables, etc.  (*This can also be printed as an 8.5"x11" handout.)
  • Take a Stand, Don't Tan! Poster - 2' x 3' poster pushing the MRF's Take a Stand, Don't Tan campaign. Great, large poster to hang up in schools, school nurse's offices, classrooms, health fair booths, informational tables, etc.  (*This can also be printed as an 8.5"x11" handout.)  You may also want to use the pledge sheet below.
  • Take a Stand, Don't Tan! Pledge Sheet  (*Please print this on your own) - The MRF's Take a Stand, Don't Tan! pledge can be taken using this form, or it can be done online. This form goes well with both of the posters above and can be distributed as part of a classroom or school effort to increase awareness around the dangers of tanning, tanning beds and melanoma.  Great for upcoming events like spring break and Prom.
  • Caregiver Support Guide - 20 page booklet containing insight on how to take care of yourself while also taking care of your loved one.  Helpful for anyone who is stepping into the role of becoming a caregiver for someone with a melanoma diagnosis.  A special thanks goes out to the many MPIP members and other caregivers who gave us comments and suggestions for writing this piece.

  • Melanoma Education Foundation - Provides lesson plans and student materials to health educators to be used for high school and middle school students.
  • Melanoma Education Initiative - Provides education to the public and to middle and high schools, primarily in the state and region of Ohio.
  • Mollie's Fund - Educational materials, school curriculum, and a DVD entitled The Dark Side of the Sun
  • We currently have DVD's from the Mike Geltrude Foundation that we are happy to send out - DVD entitled Dead Wrong:  It's Only Skin Cancer"
  • National Council on Skin Cancer Prevention - resources for health professionals, media, outdoor workers, parents, parks and recreation staff, policy makers, teachers and schools, and teenagers 
  •   SHADE Foundation - printable PDF's and a self-exam DVD
