Research Grant Program
Overview
The Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) is committed to funding medical research to find effective treatments and eventually a cure for melanoma. For more than a decade, the MRF has supported promising medical research that will further the goal of developing an effective treatment and possible cure of malignant melanoma, while encouraging scientists and clinicians to join in this mission.
Each year, the MRF provides emerging and established scientific investigators with highly sought-after grants that will allow them to explore new avenues in melanoma biology, prevention and treatments, ultimately leading to a cure. Basic, translational and clinical research projects are considered. Proposals are reviewed by the Scientific Advisory Committee and final decisions are made by the Board of Directors. The Career Development Awards provide funding of up to $50,000 per year for two years to junior investigators. Researchers who are beginning a research career emphasizing melanoma-related projects and have not yet established strong federal funding for their research are eligible.
The Established Investigator Awards provide funding of up to $100,000 per year for two years to established melanoma researchers, or senior researchers, working in closely related fields who wish to move into melanoma research.
The Medical Student Research Grants provide funding of $3,000 for one year to medical students for original proposals supported by an institutional mentor.
