Six years ago I noticed a dark line in my finger nail that continued to worsen over the course of the year. After my nail started lifting from the nail bed, I went to see my dermatologist where I was told I had nothing to worry about. I decided to seek out a second opinion where the reaction was, "I am sure it's fine, but we can do a biopsy if you'd like." I was diagnosed with acral melanoma two weeks later on April 18, 2011. I was only 25.
