Hi, I'm newly diagnosed with melanoma in situ and new to the Philadelphia area. Can someone recommend a Philadelphia area physician? A dermatologist made my diagnosis and I'd like to schedule my next appointment with a skilled surgeon.
Thanks very much!

Mat - (2/9/2014 - 6:02am)You could try contacting Dr. Schuchter's office at UPenn to see which surgeon(s) at UPenn she prefers to use.

When you're talking to the gal on the phone, make sure you clearly say "melanoma". When I had made an appointment there to see someone at the melanoma clinic, she had set me up with a doctor who specialized in "myeloma". Fortunately I was able to straighten that one out in advance of my appointment.

lisa215 - (2/9/2014 - 11:31am)Thanks so much to you both for the helpful information. I had a baby girl (my first child) just a few weekend ago so I'm feeling scared and a overwhelmed. But also very thankful that it seems to have been caught early.

DonnaK - (2/9/2014 - 1:37pm)My husband went to dr. Kerakoussis at the pigmented lesion group, a part of hup/upenn. We really liked him though he was a bit odd!

DonnaK - (2/9/2014 - 7:56pm)My husband saw Alexander ehrlich and dr Ming from the pigmented lesion grp. His cancer was much more advanced and he has since passed away, but I liked the idea of having the eyes of multiple derms.
I know how scary this is but be thankful u caught it early and enjoy this time w your baby. Welcome to Philly. It's a wonderful city.

HopefulOne - (2/10/2014 - 12:49pm)Hi - we are thrilled with Jefferson! Oncologist we see is Dr. Kendra Feeney - my husband had a fantastic surgeon but he is a neurosurgeon (Dr. Jack Jallo). I'd start with Dr. Feeney! Good luck. Kimberly
