I just received a phone call from one of my drs.  He just received back information on my tumor and said it had some genetic make up that puts me at a higher risk for recurrance. I don't know what that is yet- I meet with him next week- but now I  am terrified and broken -hearted and afraid this definitely means my 1b will progress.  Thanks for listening.  I just don't know what to do and feel overwhelmed.

Yes-I agree!

Try not to think the worst right now.  I know easier said than done.  When you say "tumor" are you talking about a skin melanoma that was removed.

To give you some perspective the survival rate for stage Ib is:

Stage IB: The 5-year survival rate is around 92%. The 10-year survival is around 86%.

Odds are overwhelmingly on your side.  Also keep in mind that the stats are not even taking into account the fantastic drugs that are now available.

I think your best bet is just to take a deep breath and relax as much as you can until next week and see what your Doctor has to say.

Yes- he is referring to the skin melanoma.  He is now having me get a pet scan and settings me up with an oncologist. I'm trying not to think the worst - like you said- hard to do.  I feel like now I am going to be on the "poor" side of those statistics.   I know a lot of this is emotions talking- I'm just scarf still I guess.  Thanks for your thoughts, Brian.
