At the Melanoma Research Foundation's (MRF) Wings of Hope for Melanoma galas, a Humanitarian Award is presented to a leader in the local medical community who has committed to fighting melanoma through exemplary patient care, cutting-edged research or scientific leadership. Courage Awards are also given to individuals who have shown tremendous strength in their personal battles with melanoma.

2016 Galas

Denver - Tuesday, April 12th

The Fifth Annual Wings of Hope for Melanoma event will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at The Cable Center in Denver, Colorado. The annual event celebrates leaders in the melanoma medical community, recognizes individuals who are bravely battling melanoma and shares some of the exciting medical breakthroughs that are on the horizon for this disease. This April, the MRF will recognize the Colorado Head and Neck Specialists Medical Group - John Campana, MDR. Andrew Gaines, MD, Andrew J. Nemechek, MD and Christopher L. Oliver, MD with the Humanitarian Award and Scott Oliver, MD, Director of the Eye Cancer Program in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Colorado with the CURE OM Vision of Hope Award. San Francisco - Thursday, May 19th

The Eighth Annual Wings of Hope for Melanoma gala will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the Terra Gallery in San Francisco, California. The annual event celebrates leaders in the melanoma medical community and recognizes individuals who are bravely battling melanoma. The evening is an opportunity to learn about research advancements and enjoy local culinary delights, fun games and unique silent auction items all in the company of others who share a passion and commitment to eradicate cutaneous, ocular, mucosal and pediatric melanoma. This May, the MRF will recognize Kevin B. Kim, MD, Medical Director of the Melanoma Clinical Research Program at the California Pacific Medical Center and Jeffrey Bortz, MD, Director of East Bay Skin Cancer Center with the Humanitarian Award and Bertil Damato, MD, PhD, Director of Ocular Oncology Service and Professor of Ophthalmology and Radiation Oncology at the University of California, San Francisco with the Vision of Hope CURE OM Award. The MRF will also recognize Fred Fanchaly, RN with the Compassionate Care Award and Clement Donahue, MD, Linda McCulloch and Tessa McMillan will be honored with the Courage Award. To learn more about the event, click here: Event information.

Chicago - Thursday, September 15th

The Second Annual Wings of Hope for Melanoma gala will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at the University Club of Chicago. The annual event celebrates leaders in the melanoma medical community and recognizes individuals who are bravely battling melanoma. The evening is an opportunity to learn about research advancements and enjoy local culinary delights, live entertainment and silent auction items all in the company of others who share a passion and commitment to eradicate cutaneous, ocular, mucosal and pediatric melanoma. The MRF will recognize Thomas F. Gajewski, MD, PhD with the Humanitarian Award and Susie Giorango will present Samantha Amezcua, Addison Brush, Patti Foreman, Gigi Gilbert and Marie Pusinelli with the Courage Award. To learn more about the event, click here: Event information.

New York City - Thursday, October 20th

The 2016 Wings of Hope for Melanoma gala will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Guastavino’s in New York City. This landmark event will pay tribute to innovators and champions in the melanoma community and celebrate the Melanoma Research Foundation’s (MRF) 20 years of investing in critical medical research, supporting melanoma patients and their families and advocating on behalf of the global melanoma community. Philadelphia - Wednesday, November 16th

The Fourth Annual Wings of Hope for Melanoma gala will be held on Wednesday, November 16th, 2016 at Front & Palmer. The annual event celebrates leaders in the melanoma medical community and recognizes individuals who are bravely battling melanoma. The evening is an opportunity to learn about research advancements and enjoy local culinary delights, live entertainment and silent auction items all in the company of others who share a passion and commitment to eradicate cutaneous, ocular, mucosal and pediatric melanoma. The MRF will recognize Jeffrey M. Farma, MD with the Humanitarian Award and Takami Sato, MD, PhD with the CURE OM Vision of Hope Award. Danicka Fike, Melissa Greenhut, Sheila Levine, Carla Rake and Terry Willoughby will receive the Courage Award.
