Donation Information

Where does the money go? Approximately 88.8% went to research, education and advocacy in 2003. The remainder was spent on other programmatic activities such as publications and a small amount on administrative overhead. As a volunteer-run organization, we have no paid staff. The grants are awarded through a scientific peer-review system paneled by leading clinical and basic melanoma researchers. We are not affiliated with any specific hospital or research institution and thus award grants to applicants that have the best combination of scientific merit, appropriately skilled researchers, the greatest likelihood for success and the highest benefit for the melanoma patient community.

There are many ways to donate:

United Way
Many employers not only actively sponsor United Way campaigns for their employees but often will provide a dollar for dollar match for employee donations. It is necessary to specifically designate the Melanoma Research Foundation as the recipient of your donation. The MRF qualifies as a recipient for funds due to our 501(c)3 non-profit status. We are more than happy to provide a copy of our 501(c)3 designation to your local campaign. Have your local representative contact us and we will provide any necessary documentation.

Network for Good
You can now donate to the MRF over the Internet with your credit card, through the service offered by Network for Good (formerly Helping.Org, an affiliate of the AOL Foundation). Try it!
