Donate and Together We Can Make a Difference
Help the Melanoma Research Foundation make a difference for the 76,000 Americans who are expected to be diagnosed with the disease in 2012, resulting in approximately 9,000 deaths each year - or one death every hour.
The Melanoma Research Foundation is committed to research, education and advocacy in our national battle to find more effective treatments and, ultimately, a cure for this disease. When you give to the MRF, we put your dollars to work. To learn more about the research grants we have funded, please read about all of our Research Recipients or take a look at our 2012 Research Grant Booklet.
With your help, we can raise awareness of melanoma, provide resources and education to the melanoma community and support medical research to find effective new treatments for melanoma. Together we are making a difference!

Combined Federal Campaign (CFC)
The MRF welcomes gifts through workplace giving campaigns, including the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) and employee matching gifts. Contact your HR department for details on designating your contribution. Federal employees, please choose CFC #35748 to designate the MRF as your beneficiary.
Matching Gifts
If your employer has a matching gift program, let us know by contacting donate@melanoma.org. After you send us your contact information and that of your employer’s, we will then request that your company send us the appropriate forms.
Planned Giving
If you are interested in helping MRF find a cure for melanoma through planned giving, please contact us at donate@melanoma.org. Simply tell us how you would like your planned gift set up and leave your contact information. A staff member will then get in touch with you to start the process.
Give Stock
If you are interested in donating stock to the MRF, please see information below or email us at donate@melanoma.org with your contact information and a staff member will get back to you.
A gift of appreciated stock/securities held for more than one year may provide significant benefits to you as a contributor, such as:
- Entitling you to a charitable income tax deduction for the fair market value of the gifted securities as of the date of gift;
- Eliminating capital gains tax that would ordinarily become due if you had sold the appreciated securities on the open market and donated the proceeds from the sale to charity;
- Claiming your charitable deduction against up to 30% of your adjusted gross income. Any unused deductions can be carried forward over the next five years;
- Providing a way to help you to achieve your long-term financial objective of reducing your income and estate taxes.
If you have securities that have declined in value over the years and are interested in donating them to MRF, you may find it more advantageous to sell the securities first and contribute the proceeds as opposed to donating the securities outright. This strategy should allow you to claim a deduction for both the loss from the sale of the securities as well as the charitable gift.
If you are considering donating stock that is subject to a cash merger or tender offer, it's important for you to note that you will be subject to tax on the capital gain even though the shares were transferred to us before the tender offer became effective.
You should always consult with your financial advisor before initiating a charitable gift arrangement.
